Terms of service

Hookline is a daily music guessing game. The daily puzzle is free forever. Optional packs can be purchased to unlock unlimited practice across past episodes. By using the site you accept these terms; if you don't accept them, please stop using the site.

Accounts are optional. We sign you in by emailing a one-time link — no passwords. You're responsible for keeping access to that inbox secure. We may suspend or terminate accounts that attempt to abuse the service (e.g. circumventing the free quota, scraping, or trying to break our infrastructure).

Packs are one-time purchases — there is no subscription. Once a pack is unlocked on your account, that entitlement is permanent and not contingent on a recurring payment.

Payments are processed by Stripe. Prices include applicable VAT where shown.

EU consumer law gives you a 14-day right of withdrawal on digital goods, with one important exception: that right ends the moment we begin delivering the digital content with your prior express consent. Because a pack unlocks instantly on purchase, you waive the 14-day right at checkout when you click “Pay”. This means purchases are non-refundable as a rule.

That said, we'd rather you be happy than aggrieved. If something went seriously wrong (e.g. a charge for a pack you never received, or a duplicate charge), email hello@hookline.live and we'll sort it out.

Audio previews are streamed from Deezer's public preview API. Hookline does not host or distribute any music files itself. Previews are short clips (~30 seconds) served directly by Deezer's CDN to your browser. Pack purchases unlock access to puzzle replays, not music ownership.

The service is provided as-is. We aim for it to be up every day, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may take the service down for maintenance, change features, or shut it down with reasonable notice.

• Don't try to bypass the free-tier quota or pay-walls.
• Don't scrape, hammer, or stress-test the service.
• Don't use the service to do anything illegal in your jurisdiction or ours.

Accounts that violate these rules may be suspended without notice; ongoing or serious abuse may be terminated and entitlements forfeited.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Hookline isn't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any direct claim is limited to the amount you actually paid for purchases in the 12 months preceding the claim (i.e. for free users, zero).

These terms are governed by the laws of Portugal. Disputes will be resolved in Portuguese courts unless mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence grants you a different forum.

We may update these terms over time. Material changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date and, if relevant, surfaced on the site. Continuing to use Hookline after a change means you accept the new terms.
